Almoradi

Almoradi is situated on the northern side of the River Segura Rojales and the smaller village of Algorfa are nearby. It’s a 15 minute drive to Orihuela and 30 minutes to Alicante.

The town relies mostly on agriculture. But in recent times the manufacture of furniture has also become an important industry. The area offers the biggest expositions of furniture in the whole Comunidad Valenciana. On the other hand more that 50% of all employees are working in the hostelry sector.

Almoradi has a good range of facilities and an excellent variety of shops, bars and restaurants. The town is certainly quieter than many of the coastal resorts. Worth visiting in Almoradi are the casino, the church of San Andrés and the Cortés Theatre.

Almoradi is notable in the region for its being the home of a water tribunal which exists to resolve disputes over the irrigation of land. The tribunal is an ancient and historic institution.
