Altea Altea is surrounded by mountains making it is a very scenic place. The “Sierra de Bernia” reaches up to 1130 metres. The pretty town grants an almost symbolic image of the Costa Blanca. The blue and white dome of its Parochial Church (Nuestra Senora del Consuelo or Virgen de Consuelo), is set up on a hill and can be seen for miles around. From here are spectacular views up to Benidorm and Calpe. The charming picturesque small lanes attracts tourists all year round. In the narrow streets you will find white houses, orange trees, everywhere geraniums and varied traditional craftsmen’s studios: typically Spanish! The area with around 5 km beaches starts with the promenade next to the port. The large beach coast line goes up to Albir. The views towards Calpe and the Sierra Helada (a rocky outcrop separating Altea from Benidorm) are spectacular. On the northern part is the stoney Cap Negret, the “La Roda beach” and the “Cap blanc”, and the “Punta del Mascarat” with it’s small port. The entire bay has small and lovely coves and beaches; not really sandy, mostly full of stones. The advantage: when you go back home to your hotel or home, your car and your home remain free from sand, and you don’t have to get rid of sand on your body, clothes, in your shoes and with that in your apartment or house. Altea is a great location to live, especially on a higher standard level. For big shopping and nightlife: go to Calpe, Albir or Benidorm with the outstanding La Marina Commercial Centre. In the town it’s all year round very difficult to find a parking place. Altea Photos ![]()
