Classic Car fans were once again out in force on Friday night, June 25, for the monthly Noche del Coche event at Torrevieja’s Marina Salinas. A gorgeous evening greeted drivers and visitors alike to the beautiful setting of Torrevieja’s new sports harbour where 27 classic or ‘cars of interest’ snaked their way along the car park delighting families and especially children, many of whom had never seen some of the diverse models on show.
Noche del Coche is fast becoming one of the more interesting informal events on the Torrevieja calendar, as more and more visitors, estimated at around 500 or so, came specifically to see the cars or diverted from their paseo, to see the cars on show. This week there was a mouth watering display of famous manufacturers and models, which included Rolls-Royce, Ferrari, Mustang, Corvette, Trans Am, Jaguar, Triumph, Mazda, Mini, Mercedes, Toyota, Volkswagen, Land Rover, Ford Anglia and Classic and even an immaculately prepared 1929 Chevrolet Delivery Truck.
The next Noche del Coche takes place just outside of Orihuela in Redovan, at Cafeteria Emy on Friday July 9 while even more cars and bikes are expected at Marina Salinas on July 30. This week’s event finished with a noisy cruise around the centre of Torrevieja to coincide with Spain’s victory and ongoing campaign in the World Cup, with another, earlier evening street cruise planned for the end of July event, to allow those on the streets of Torrevieja the chance to see the cars and bikes in all their glory.
