Murcia San Javier Airport

The airport is called Murcia airport, but is about 45 km away from the city and close to a small town San Javier, next to Santiago de la Ribera, in front of the Mar Menor. The airport is not a huge, but ideally located for travelers to the southern Costa Blanca and the Costa Calida area. With the growing tourism and expats community living in this area (South of Torrevieja, La Manga, Cartagena), the airport has become more and more popular. However, it is still a very small airport. Passenger traffic: 2.002.949 people in 2007.

The services of Murcia San Javier airport include car hire and bank services with money exchange facilities, Children’s playground, First Aid Centre, Multi-shops and several cafeterias, a self service café, a kiosk and a duty-free shop.

2004-2006 the terminal at Murcia Airport was expanded adding 1.100 m2 to the arrivals area.

Alicante Airport

Alicante Airport is located about 11km from the city of Alicante. Nothing is outstanding at the Alicante airport: nice, clean, and tidy. Inside the airport it is modern and spacious. It comprises of several floors, each with all the expected facilities.

Alicante Airport is around the 7th busiest Airports in Spain and serves the Costa Blanca North and South. In 2007 it handled 9,120,631 passengers and over 79,750 flight operations.

Around 80% of all passenger traffic at Alicante Airport comes from International flights, with the passengers from the UK, Holland, Germany, France, Italy and Sweden being amongst the highest number of visitors.
 
Facilities: The airport has bars, restaurants, cafes and fast food outlets, and several shops, including duty-free. ATMs and currency exchange facilities are also available. There is a VIP lounge which offers fax, photocopying and Internet capabilities for first- and business-class passengers.
