Murcia San Javier Airport The airport is called Murcia airport, but is about 45 km away from the city and close to a small town San Javier, next to Santiago de la Ribera, in front of the Mar Menor. The airport is not a huge, but ideally located for travelers to the southern Costa Blanca and the Costa Calida area. With the growing tourism and expats community living in this area (South of Torrevieja, La Manga, Cartagena), the airport has become more and more popular. However, it is still a very small airport. Passenger traffic: 2.002.949 people in 2007.
