Elche Elche is known worldwide as the city of palm trees, which lies 23km inland from Alicante. Elche is the third largest city in the region and one of the most visited. Here the tourists can admire the largest plantation of palms in Europe. It’s a great feeling being in the amazing park with over 300.000 protected palms. One could feel like being in an exotic world. Palms are dotted everywhere in the city. Strolling through these thousands of Palms is a breathtaking. The economy of Elche is based on the footwear industry, with over 1,000 shoe factories, being one of the most important footwear industries in Spain and the rest of Europe.
