Guadalest

Guadalest is an Eagle nest carved into the mountain, located inland 25 km from Altea or Benidorm. It’s worth to stay shortly at Callosa d’en Sarria for a short walk through the narrow streets with its typical Spanish flair around the market place and the church.

Driving 12 km you arrive in Gualdalest situated in a spectacular setting at 600m above sea level in a rugged mountain range. This special place is perched on the pinnacle of a granite mountain. The position of the village offers spectacular and breathtaking views. The population of only 200 people dedicates entirely to tourism. The old village and castle is accessed through a tunnel carved from the rock. Once you are there, you feel like being in another age. It’s another world. Nevertheless there are plenty of restaurants and shops.

Several museums give an insight into the history: Museo Microgigante, the Microminiatura museo near the town hall, the Antonio Marco Museum, and the Museo Ribera Girona. There are plenty of gift shops and cafés around. A trip to the village of Guadalest is a must!
