Orihuela Town Orihuela is the capital of the Vega Baja region of the southern Costa Blanca. The town is well known for its magnificent churches and monasteries. Orihuela has a distinguished cultural heritage. The town is a mixture of the old and the new. The River Segura runs through the middle of Orihuela, the older part of the city. Orihuela Beaches The town is located 22 km inland and has its own stretch of coastline, the Orihuela Costa with 16 km fine beaches and exclusive resorts, well known with its urbanizations such as Cabo Roig, La Zenia, Campoamor, Mil Palmeras, and Playa Flamenca. Agriculture has thrived, and continues to thrive, owing much to a remarkable system of irrigation channels. Popular crops in the region are oranges, lemons, dates, almonds, and corn. It is also well known for its silk. The beach Cabo Roig is around 420m long and 18m large. There are some tiny rocky coves with clear blue water. Walking on beach promenades you will enjoy sea and nature. Cabo Roig offers several facilities and installations for nautical sport. La Zenia is situated between Playa Flamenca y Cabo Roig and has an excellent beach of 350m. There are also excellent facilities, enough parking spaces, a bus station and a taxi stand. Playa Flamenca and Campoamor have nice sandy and clean beaches. Also here you will find facilities and many excellent restaurants as everywhere in this region. There is a little port for nautical sports.
