H2O Exhibition at the Vista Alegre

Water: that most precious of commodities, is the subject mater for this year’s exhibition of entries for ‘H2O’. Sponsored by Caja Madrid, the exhibition was inaugurated by Councillor for Culture, Eduardo Dolon, José Blanco, Head of Culture Department for Caja Madrid, museum director municipal, Lola Sanchez accompanied councillors Joaquín Albaladejo, Pedro Valero and Lola Canales.

This is the third year that Aqua H2O has come to Torrevieja and this unique exhibition includes some thirty winning posters and selected entries from the fifth edition of the Poster Award’s from Caja Madrid. The poster art on display is designed to make one think about the and reflect on the need to generate ecological awareness of the value of water in our lives, to prevent our most valuable resource form being contaminated and wasted. This exhibition is to recognize the efforts of artists and designers, so as to echo the social reality that demands the attention of us all.

The exhibition is on display at the Vista Alegre Exhibition Centre throughout August before continuing on tour to other cities around Spain. Entrance to the exhibition is free.

La Marina Festival a Great Success

La Marina was the centre of activities last weekend for those looking for a local fiesta with plenty to offer for people of all ages. From Friday evening to the late hours of Sunday night, the centre of the urbanization beside the Consum Car park was the place to be. Organised by Mark Lewis, San Fulgencio’s Festival Coordinator, this year’s event took a giant step forward in organisation and participation and the number of people who visited over the weekend made the 2010 event the best to date.

This year’s late night activities were coordinated by Vibe FM, La Marina’s local radio station, who supplied all of the professional audio back up and live broadcasting of shows, throughout the weekend Some of the acts included Oisin Hennessey, Dance Extreme, Route 69, Richie Sparks, Maria O’Hara, The Hippie Monks, The Key of Atlas, White Noise, Debbie Slater, Gregg Lomas, The Voodoos, Pat Martin, Off Ya Head plus the Vibe FM Midnight Disco and Foam Party! All good clean fun!

Sunday afternoon’s pleasant surprise was a classic and specialist car display provided by Club Torrevieja and friends from other local car clubs and groups. Accompanied by a Police escort, the display was much appreciated by the hundreds of spectators who crowed around the cars for a better view prior to heading of for the best value meal of the deal from Giant Paella, which only cost 1.00 € per person for Paella and a Drink. Along with over 20-cars, of all styles including Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Mercedes, Mini, Trojan Bubble Car, Peugeot, Mazda, Anglia, MGB, Corvette and others there were a number of side stalls, bouncy castle for the kids and entertainment for the family. A great weekend and congratulations to all of those who helped organise it.
