Midnight June 23 on the Juan Aparicio promenade in Torrevieja was the time and place to be if you wanted to see possibly the most exciting and well produced firework displays that the city has to offer. And although it’s the exception rather than the rule for things to start on time in Spain, this was one event that was right on the button. The spectacular firework display was choreographed to four pieces of music, ranging from the city’s anthem ‘Torrevieja’ through Elton John’s ‘Rocket Man’ plus Spanish pieces making it the most magical night and spectacle of the year to date.

The occasion was the night of San Juan, the traditional beginning of summer and the event was organised by the Torrevieja Town Hall. What made this year’s event stand out from those in the past was the dramatic effect that the accompanying audio track provided, turning the traditional fireworks display into a ‘Piromusical’.
An estimated 2,000 spectators filled the Juan Aparicio promenade, to enjoy this very personal mix of audio and visual, light and sound, all orchestrated and carried out jointly between music and pyrotechnics. Pyrotechnics Garoua produced the show and launched almost a ton of gunpowder into the sea and atmosphere. They also installed several sound towers along the promenade with a total of 80,000 watts for the 15-minute show, which wowed the throngs of viewers of every age group and nationality.
